NC is awarded a federal Community School Expansion Grant. Following an updated Needs and Assets Assessment, afterschool opportunities are expanded, and the number of partnerships grows.
As schools reopen, Goal Teams support small group instruction, addressing academic outcomes while meeting families’ basic needs. Parents within the schools are hired part-time as organizers.
Managing school through the global pandemic, basic needs become a major priority. A Steering Committee is launched, and grant opportunities are pursued.

our schools
Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet School continues to challenge children in a stimulating educational environment. Club Boulevard is a successful magnet program—a school community representative of the diversity of Durham—with an enrollment of about 400 students
A proud to be a neighborhood school in the Southwest region of Durham Public Schools. We are a community school, learn more about what that means here. We also have a dual immersion program at Lakewood that started in the 2019-2020 school year
The BCCSP
Welcome! We are the Durham University-Assisted Community Schools Research Collective, a grassroots effort to support Durham Public Schools in addressing the challenges surrounding equitable school experiences and outcomes. The group envisions community schools as bringing together academics, health and social services, youth development and community engagement under one roof. Duke and North Carolina Central— two local universities— are central to this endeavor as part of the university-assisted community schools model.
Principal Leadership Fellows Initiative
2022-23
Leadership in which staff share leadership roles appears to improve student achievement more than leadership in which the principal alone makes most school-level decisions
(Seashore,Louis et al., 2010, p. 21).
